CEO and MOM all at once... doable

Preface: So. I am going to have a sister-in-law. I can't be more excited!!! I love my one and only brother and have been waiting for the day someone would steal his little heart and make him go crazywho would have thought a little organic chemistry do the trick!

anyways. yesterday was memorial day. I love a good 4 day weekend.
yesterday my brother and brooke (his finace) came to visit us in Provo
and joined me, Ginger, Ashley, Christel, and Devan for a BBQ.

I will bear witness about two things tonight: making lists, and the church

#1 - Lists
  • grocery lists
  • list of my siblings favorite foods
  • list of things to bring to a bbq
  • list of school work to get done
If the list is in place... everything should go smoothly...logically
unfortunately, my list was only almost nearly perfect.
maybe I forgot condiments and matches?
good thing for friends that come late!
*Special thanks to Christel and her physics homework for making her late and our bbq a success.

#2 - Church

in this case, mainly the building, though don't get me wrong, I am a definite fan of the gospel.
Everyone had the same idea and all the bbq's were full.
so on our way to a park that was miles and miles away,
I saw a church to my left and took a quick little detour,
it was perfect, our long search was over.
a non-populated gazebo with shade and a large bbq set.
YIPEE!!!

in reference to the tile, so I made a strawberry sheet cookie?
My future sister-in-law was helping me create this
piece of deliciousness.. as she helped, she said
"you are so fancy! you are going to be such a great mom!"
YESSSSSS it's everything I aim for!!

While getting ready, Ginger said something along the lines of
"i don't even know where to begin!"
so I started to operate the situation.
... thank you almost perfect lists!
then Brooke said, "Wow, you will be a CEO someday!"

I think Manuel found the perfect girl...I mean.. who doesn't like
to hear someone tell them they are capable of fulfilling their dreams. hahaha
but really, she is great! and thanks to people like my friend Dallin, Nathan, and Cole
for dedicating their lives to protecting our country!

Confessions

So maybe I didn't go to your typical high school.
Maybe I went to a music-college prep charter school.
no. It was not like High School Musical.
I loved every moment of it... well almost every moment.
face the music.(pun completely intended.)
you can't go through high school without having a few break downs.
anyways.
that is not the point.
the point is. I love music. I love it more than sports.
have I taken 4 years of music theory? yes
did I take another years worth of music classes in college for fun? yes

It's not just the classical genre I listen to.. though every once in a while it is rather soothing.
I little bit of jazz, a little bit of hip hop, a lot of bit of Kelly Clarkson, holiday music galore, and even the occasional country...yeah.. living in utah...and with mal, katie, and ash.. I caved.
here's the real confession:

I know...longest background info.

Sometimes i listen to just the most perfect song at the most perfect time.
A good woman empowering song.
This super goofy grin finds its way on my face.
I look over my shoulders to make sure the coast is clear.
Then I let my imagination wander.

Let's do a sample run:
The song "pictures of you"
without fail. every time I listen to it I imagine I'm in the last scene of a movie.
and then the credits start to roll on the right side of me as I walk down the street.
And i am just smiling like i have a secret. Like I just did something extremely empowering.
Sometimes.. I even do a little spin. right in the middle of the street.
I guess it's not a secret anymore.
Now it's something you can do when you're walking down the sidewalk.
everyone wants to be a star lol.

it's even better when the leaves are golden.

yes.. this is the worlds most edited photo.
but a glimpse of what I see in my mind lol.

keep smilin'!

if i've learned in anything in this lifetime...

In this short lifetime I've lived I have learned plenty.
I have learned to play the piano
I have learned how to make friends
I've learned how to change a car headlight
I've learned to say goodbye
I've learned soooo much being here at school.

and as much as all those things matter.
there are items of more importance.
trends change with time.
things are becoming more technical everyday.
ill probably have a robot to do chores for me in the future.

probably the biggest moral of my life thus far is:

Family is the one thing i can count on. Family is love.

"You don't choose your family.  They are God's gift to you, as you are to them"

I cannot say we're a perfect little tribe but we always come through.
When I think of my happier moments..it's with them.
i love every single member and my heart yearns for them everyday.
I am just counting the days to see my ma and pa and little lenny.

i have a secret: i know what love is.

Mumsy, Pa, brosky, fool, smally... this one's for you.

Through a child's eyes

Paint-a-wish
I am part of an organization that creates activities for children with chronic diseases.
Gives the parents a little break
throws a smile on the faces of the children
makes my heart grow a little bigger

"Remember that the happiest people are not those getting more, but those giving more."

look beyond the leprechaun trap and trees

i wish i could see her world
This picture reminds me of the movie Neverland.
to the naked eye...she's just playing in the trees
through her telescope.. she is in a magical world full of little green men, rainbows, and pots of gold!
she even made me a telescope so i could help her scope out the leprechaun that ate her cupcake!

It was such a fun day full of cupcake decorating, bean bag tosses, plant growing, and trap making.

something i must brag about:
the bean bags.
yes i did use a sewing machine to make them.
yes i did sew in a straight line.
yes i did do it myself.
yes i did make nine of them.
....
and yes we all tried to juggle hahaha
ash is leaving math ed and starting a routine for the circus
mal and katie are catching on quickly.
i on the other hand..well...ill stick to making the bean bags.
hmmm maybe i am getting a hold of this womanhood thing.
first bean bags..next a skirt maybe?

A tribute to my Mal Gal

let me speak of this wonderful girl right here:
For your indulgence let me introduce you to Mallory Hart!
I love her.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY MY YOUNG 20 YR OLD!

You know when  you meet people and you just fit so perfectly together?
I tease a lot but I really do think we were friends in a world of the past.
side-traction
We were roommates our freshman year of college along with our Ashley.
Together. unstoppable. the three of us made up the chimpunks:
first roommate picture ever!
not quite sure we even like each other yet in this picture.
well we do now! enough to endure each other for another year

back to Mal

*we always tease about her being a Woman of Opinion.
I hope it is never taken as demeaning that we tease.
I think it's great that she knows exactly what she wants and is not ashamed of it
* Mal is a woman full of profound wisdom for the minimal years of life she has fulfilled.
She  has taught me things from how to make brownies to how to fill my life with the spirit
*Mal really does live life to the fullest. We never have a dull moment.
Whether it be just talking before we sleep, going dancing, or going out for Macey's ice cream
I enjoy her presence, witty comments, and how she can read my mind
* Mal is probably one of the most consistent friends I have met.
If I am having a mid life crisis at the age of 18, she always comes through.

"Friendship is born at that moment when one person says to another: "What! You too? I thought I was the only one." C.S. Lewis
This is my friend Mal, she is part of my college home..because home is where the heart is.. and when we met, she became a part of it.
